Throughout the history of the world, mankind has always been focused on one goal: making things more efficient. One of the latest examples of that goal is the boxed food delivery services that establish recipes and send you all the needed components.

My family has been using the company Home Chef, but there are numerous other companies such as Hello Fresh, Blue Apron, Green Chef and Plated. We have been using this program for the past five months, and it has been an amazing experience.

Consumers have a login on their website or their app, patrons can browse meals for upcoming weeks. After the customer selects and submits their choices, the company puts the meal together and ships it to the customer’s door.

The food is delivered on Wednesdays and is packed in an insulated box with ice packs. The first time customers order, they are sent a three ring binder and every meal they order comes with a hole punched recipe card so that every recipe can be kept in one convenient spot.

On average, each meal takes about 45 minutes for my family to cook and meals come with everything needed except for very basic items such as salt, pepper, and olive oil. All of the non-vegetarian options come with meats and vegetables and some come with starches.

At the end of every meal, our family rates how good we think the food was overall which we do by starring the provided recipe card and ranking it on their website. One of the best results of using this service is the quality family time we have while cooking. It allows us all sit around the dinner table and talk to each other, rather than sitting on our phones at a restaurant.

Using this program has also helped us all to eat healthier and save money. For a four-person meal, it costs an average of $40 for the box, which fits my family well.

The only downfall to this program, in my opinion, is the lack of starches in the meal. The meals are good, but some are not very filling. Some things my family has done to compensate has been add pasta, rice or bread to the meal.

I would highly recommend using these services because they make life highly more efficient.
