Santa Fe sees many new faces each year, including students, teachers and staff. This year, there are 12 new teachers and one of them is physical science teacher and football coach, Caden MacNeill.

MacNeill is from Fort Worth, TX and moved to Oklahoma this summer. He has been teaching physical science and coaching football for three years and chose physical science as his main subject since he had always enjoyed math and science.

“I’ve always loved science. I was a biology major in college, but physical science always interested me because I like math and that involves math,” MacNeill said.

Before teaching, he was a strength coach for a semester at Tarleton State University in Fort Worth. He also played football at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He then went back to Texas to coach but then moved here to coach here at Santa Fe.

At Santa Fe High School, MacNeill is a secondary coach who coaches on corners and safety and is also highly attentive to detail.

“He’s a good guy. Always wants to be a part of the group and always worries about others,” fellow physical science teacher and football coach Todd Bonnewell said.

He decided to teach at Edmond Santa Fe because the atmosphere is welcoming and that there are academically driven students here and so far in the year, he enjoys teaching and coaching here.

“The atmosphere is great and I really enjoy it, I think the kids are great students,” MacNeill said.
