If you want to make these cookies at home, simply follow the recipe below:

2 ¼ cups flour

2 teaspoons ginger

1 teaspoon baking soda

¾ teaspoons cinnamon

½ teaspoon cloves

⅛ teaspoon salt

¾ cups shortening

1 cup sugar

1 egg

¼ cup molasses

  1. Mix flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt in a bowl.
  2. Beat shortening in a separate bowl until softened.
  3. Gradually add the sugar and beat until fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and molasses and beat well, as Gabby so beautifully did.
  5. Add half the dry mixture at a time, mixing in between.
  6. Loosely roll into 2 inch balls. You have to leave them loose so they can crack nicely when they bake. Roll the balls in sugar (raw sugar works well), and put on a greased baking sheet.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until your dance party ends.

This recipe should make about 2 ¼ dozen cookies — unless you’re us and half the mixture never makes it into the oven.
