Meet Troy Lallemand
September 30, 2016

Melanie Stephens is one of the newest additions to the Memorial English teaching team. Stephens is a native Oklahoman and graduated from University of Central Oklahoma with a bachelor degree in English Education and a minor in Humanities.

Stephens currently teaches three sections of English IV and two sections of English II. Prior to coming to Memorial she taught seventh and eighth grade English in Phoenix, Ariz. and then moved back to Oklahoma to teach for Astec Charter School.

“After teaching at Astec, coming to Memorial was like a breath of fresh air,” Stephens said. “This place is so welcoming and laid back.”

Stephens is excited to be starting a new school year at a place that offers so many great opportunities such as clubs and athletics.

“I met Kevin McDonald at an Advanced Placement Seminar, and the way that he talked about this school and the environment really drew me to Memorial,” Stephens said.

So far, Stephens has been impressed with the hospitality that Memorial has displayed and the family atmosphere.

“I think Memorial is a great place to be and she has blended into the community extremely well,” English Department Head, Reagan Killackey said.
