With high fashion designer clothes and apparel costing tremendously more than other brands, it can be hard to justify paying for them.

Generally, the more you pay for an item, the higher quality it will be. Yet some designers are known to charge up to 20 times more than it costs in materials for an item. How could it be possible for a simple tote bag to cost upwards of $4,000? The answer is the materials the item is made out of and the designers ‘hype.’

“Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world,” said Marilyn Monroe, an American actress, singer and model.

The hype, or demand that some clothes make, causes the wearer to have confidence while wearing them; that alone could be worth the price?

Some clothes aren’t made out of the highest quality material they could be, some leather jackets are actually made out of ‘pleather’ (plastic leather). Most designer apparel will be made out of rarer higher quality materials, causing them to last longer and look better than normal apparel.

Most people wouldn’t even think about buying clothes that are dramatically more expensive than others. However, there are resale stores such as Ross, T.J. Maxx and Daisy Exchange where one can obtain designer clothes for less than retail value. These types of shops make it easier for people to justify buying more expensive clothes and can make it worth the price.

Nevertheless, some designers might be worth it for someone, regarding the confidence they might gain and the quality of the materials.
