With the 2024-2025 school year beginning at Edmond Memorial High School, new administrative employees have joined the Bulldog family, including Evan Chada, the junior principal, and Shastin Willman, the sophomore principal.
EMHS students and staff alike welcomed the returning alumnus, Chada. After graduating high school, Chada attended the University of Central Oklahoma and received his master’s degree in education. Throughout the years, Chada has taught at many different schools, but this year will be his first as an assistant principal.
“I graduated from Edmond Memorial 30 years ago, and I was in the class of ‘94,” Chada said. “In the last six years, I’ve spent five years at Cheyenne Middle School and one year at Sequoyah Middle School.”
The EMHS student body expects tradition to be a significant part of the school’s environment. From the “Can you dig it?” and the “Swag Surf,” the students are involved in most the traditions here at EMHS. Chada expressed his love of the energy and how he missed these traditions as a former Bulldog.
“I was blown away on the first day,” Chada said. “It’s been 30 years since I was last here, and seeing the environment on the first day, I just couldn’t believe it.”
Willman, the new sophomore principal at EMHS, has taught at Edmond Public Schools and Oklahoma City Public Schools for the last eight years.
“I have three goals this year,” Willman said. “First, I want to create meaningful new relationships with the staff, and the students. Second, I want to learn what makes Memorial, Memorial. I love the student involvement here and cannot wait to be a part of it. Lastly, I want to hold the students accountable for their behavior and academic goals so they can go and pursue their dreams after high school.”
Before the school year started, Willman, a former Sante Fe teacher, knew the power of community and belonging, and she planned to take part in the Bulldog experience.
“I want to belong to Memorial, and I want to take in the culture of this Bulldog family fully,” Willman said.
As the 2024-2025 school year begins, the Bulldog family welcomes its newest members and hopes they have an amazing first school year here at EMHS.
