The beloved “Beetlejuice” is back, with the release of the sequel “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.” The film met the expectations of many people of being better than the first movie. It made $110 million in sales during its weekend release.
The original “Beetlejuice,” a movie directed by Tim Burton, was released in 1988 and made over $8 million on the first day of its release.
The sequel is about Lydia Deetz who was a kid in the first movie and is now an adult, she was reintroduced as the antagonist in the film “Beetlejuice” which comes from “Betelgeuse” a star that can be seen in the night sky, but also a demon who taunts people. Lydia and her mother Delia are shocked to find out that their father is now deceased. They take a trip back to their old home, and that is where the movie starts.
Winona Ryder, who plays Lydia Deetz, did a spectacular job with the acting and kept the style she had in the first movie the same, as well as Michael Keaton, who played Beetlejuice in both of the films. His voice did not change even after 35 years. When comparing the voices, no change can be heard in the tone. Jenna Ortega is a new addition to the “Beetlejuice” franchise, and she plays Astrid Deetz, the daughter of Lydia. She is in many recent movies and television shows, such as “Wednesday,” “Scream VI” and “Scream X.” Ortega Overall, I thought that the actors did great in the movie, and I hope to see all of them in future movies later on.
Computer-generated imagery is one of the most important parts of movies today. It has come a long way in recent years, allowing movies to look more realistic than they were in the ‘80s. The original movie was one of the first ever to use CGI, but Burton chose to keep some of the signature parts of the film the same. The sandworms and the desert area are the same as when they try to go outside the house. These aspects of the movie were great because watching the second movie gave a sense of nostalgia due to some of the same aspects from the first movie that stayed the same. As CGI has gotten better over the years,
I think that this movie is better than the original in the sense that it overall held my attention more than the original. Many people might say differently, but I think that both the plot of the movie and the actors drew me in more than the first. I could see a third movie being released in the future if the movie continues to reel in money like it is now.
The choice of actors contributed to the movie’s potential because of the outreach of these newer actors that were brought in. I thought that “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” was a great sequel, keeping old aspects from the first and adding new aspects to the movie, such as the actors and improved CGI, supplied it with the perfect touch.
