With the holiday season just around the corner, festivities have begun. At Edmond Memorial High School, to start this season, Fall Ball was hosted. Fall Ball is an annual event in which students can dress up, take pictures and dance the night away with their friends. EMHS students simply had to buy a ticket to attend, but non-EMHS students were welcome to attend as long as they filled out the form by Nov. 8. This allows students to have a fun night and support their school all at the same time.
Many people choose to bring a date to Fall Ball, but some people choose to just go with friends. Fall Ball proposals often happen in the weeks before Fall Ball, in which one may make a creative sign or another way of “proposing” to ask someone to be their date to the dance.
“I went to dinner with my date before Fall Ball and then we went to Andy’s after,” Katelyn Hall said.
This year’s Fall Ball was held on Nov. 16 in the lower commons, and besides going to the actual dance, many students decided to plan activities around Fall Ball to make the night even more enjoyable.
“I got ready and ate dinner with friends,” sophomore Addi Myers said. “Then we went to IHOP and had a sleepover after.”
The theme for the dance this year was “A Night in Monte Carlo,” inviting students to step away from the stress of everyday life and just have an enjoyable evening. Not only is Fall Ball a chance to have an exciting time with one’s friends but it also allows students a chance to meet new people and have a chance to socialize.
“I love meeting new people on the dance floor,” Hall said. “I don’t know why but it’s always really fun,”
Music, dancing, food and friends are all aspects that add to the experience of Fall Ball. Various types of music are played to appeal to all students, and the event is come-and-go, allowing students with packed schedules to still attend.
“They played Whitney Houston [and that] made my week,” Senior Madison Brown said. “It’s really fun to be able to dress up and dance with friends.”
Every year in November, students have the chance to be together, have a good time and contribute to the school through the $35 Fall Ball tickets.
