Every new year comes with new experiences created by Edmond Memorial High School’s superb teachers. Among the many joining the Memorial staff this year is Maddie Hendricks. Hendricks teaches Introduction to Advanced Biology and AP Biology in the Freshman Academy.

Hendricks previously attended college at Oklahoma Christian University and graduated with a degree in Biology Education in 2020.

“I had previously student taught under Mrs. Willhoite in 2020 and I love this school,” Hendricks said. “Memorial was always where I wanted to be.”

Hendricks formerly taught one year at Moore West Junior High and one year at Cheyenne Middle School in Edmond. She found that high schoolers are more mature and responsible than her former students.

“High School is more about relationships and content than it is about classroom management,” Hendricks said.

Hendricks was inspired by her high school Biology teacher and the great outdoors to become a Biology teacher and she even plans to visit all of the national parks in the United States.

“Biology is kind of like the science that connects all of the sciences together so it was the perfect one for me,” Hendricks said.

Hendricks is huge on communication and always encourages her students to speak with her if they need help with anything at all. She is very knowledgeable in career planning and is always ready to lend a helping hand to any of her students.
