After almost seven months, “Outer Banks” is back with its fourth season, which came out on Thursday, Oct. 10. As of right now, there are only five episodes, with the next five coming out on Nov. 7. On Netflix, there were 15.5 million views on season four. Many people like me wish they released all of the episodes at once, rather than having two different release dates.
Leading up to the fourth season, the Pogues were led by John B. Rutledge played by Chase Stokes. His dad, Big John Rutledge, was the “treasure hunter” in their family. He was thrown overboard while unconscious by Ward Cameron, his partner in looking for the Royal Merchant, who disagreed on the split of the money. Rutledge followed in his dad’s footsteps to find the Royal Merchant and the other clues to find El Dorado, and eventually, he found his father again.
The acting was great in the show. I can see how hard the actors worked for this season to be the best. The dialogue between characters is also great. You can see the emotion that some of the series you see today don’t show.
I like the overall show because of the treasure-hunting aspect, but I think that this season will be the best because I can see how the actors have grown into their characters as the story goes on. Due to the significance of the treasure, it might have more of a pull factor than other treasure hunting shows, because the majority of people know who Blackbeard is. I have been interested in treasure-hunting stories since I was a kid, but with other shows, there was no real story to go along with it. That changed with Outer Banks. There is also the introduction of two new enemies in this season.
Chandler Groff buys the island that Genrette owned after he died from the curse. There wasn’t much conflict between the Pogues and the other treasure hunters in the first five episodes, as the season continues, I expect there will be much more fighting and competition between the sides because of the close calls in the first few episodes.
Overall, the first few episodes were great but I do not see the point in releasing the first five episodes only just for more online engagement. I expect great things in the future from the actors and the director, Jonas Pate. I am looking forward to the second season, which comes out on Nov. 7.
