Bruce Willis diagnosed with Aphasia
April 5, 2022
On March 30, a statement came out that reported actor Bruce Willis is retiring his acting career due to his recent diagnosis of Aphasia.
According to National Institute of Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, Aphasia is a condition that progressively diminishes the ability for people to communicate. It is a disorder that damages portions of the brain that are responsible for language.
A post shared by his daughter captioned a photo “To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with Aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities,” she said. “As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.”
In response to Willis’ daughters’ Instagram post, Sarah Paulson, who worked with Willis in “Glass,” explained, “he was such an incredible acting partner to me, and is the loveliest, most gentle & hilarious man. He
reigns supreme in my book.”
Willis is known for his extensive career in Hollywood. He starred in “Die Hard” and its sequels, “Armageddon,” Pulp Fiction, “The Sixth Sense” and 110 more. He received a Golden Globe Award in 1987, two Emmys and more achievements throughout his career.
In 2013, when asked by GQ magazine to complete the sentence “If I live long enough, I —,” Willis said, “should approach a bigger task than I approach now.”
When asked if Willis has a life motto by GQ, he said: “‘Live and let live’ is the closest I have. It works for pretty much everything. It has comic aspects to it and it has the real-deal aspects to it.”
Willis made it apparent that he cared about living in the present while making his mark on the world, which he certainly achieved.
Willis has several projects in the works and lined up for release in 2022, and continuation of the projects is still undetermined.
Many will miss seeing his face on the big screen in upcoming movies, however his work will never be forgotten and his fans wish him nothing but love.
