Green Goodies

Edmond’s newest addition, Green Goodies. This bakery offers pastries, desserts, and coffees, but the best part is they accommodate gluten-free and vegan diets. Green Goodies is family friendly and has perfect treats.

As the city of Edmond, Okla. continues to grow, the options for individuals with dietary restrictions such as gluten and/or dairy-free are becoming more common in restaurants. In this case, a new bakery has opened up in East Edmond off of 33rd and Bryant, called Green Goodies. This is a branch from the other Green Goodies located in Nichols Hills. As a vegan, I couldn’t be more excited to have an option for dairy-free sweets only five minutes from my house.

The sweets shop opened on Sept. 9 and has had a full parking lot ever since. They have a wide range of sweets starting with breakfast pastries, cookies (and cookie cakes), cupcakes and even coffees/teas. The drink menu had all the coffees one would expect, such as Americano, lattes, mochas and many other options. For teas, they sell chai lattes and even a dirty chai which includes espresso. Walking in, the desserts and pastries are all labeled, which makes it easy for customers who are gluten-free or vegan. The employees are also very informative when it comes to finding flavors. The environment is calm, coming off as a casual coffee shop.

The pricing was not outrageous considering most places offering vegan food tend to mark up the price, but for a chocolate cupcake and a large cookie, the total was only seven dollars. I believe that it was priced correctly given that the cupcake had the perfect mixture of sweetness and moistness. I didn’t feel like I needed to drink a whole water bottle after it. The cookie was honestly the best vegan cookie I have had. The cookie had the right amount of doughiness, which allowed it to break apart but not crumble.

Overall I would recommend this cute bakery to anyone. It is perfect to bring one’s family in for sweets or even just a treat for oneself. Edmond has truly stepped up their game with Green Goodies, and it is safe to say that it is a hit.
